"Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms for My sake and for the gospel's sake but that he will receive a hundred times as much..." Mark 10:29-30 |

Continuing Education
There is an interesting saying in Haiti. "In America, the church supports the pastor; in Haiti, the pastor supports the church." Most Haitian pastors are bi-vocational. They work jobs to support their families while being faithful to their call to ministry which usually pays little if anything at all.
Scripture says, "My people perish for lack of knowledge." The truth is, what you don't know can hurt you. Most Haitian pastors have not had formal training or been to seminary or bible college. Their lack of biblical knowledge can have detrimental effects to their congregations.
Several years ago, Spirit of Truth leader, Jean Alix Paul and IAM board member, James Spruill felt led to begin a continuing education program for Haitian pastors. Each December, pastors throughout Haiti are invited to the annual Pastors and Church Leaders Conference. This three-day conference covers a broad range of Biblical subjects, trying to bring a balance into their lives as leaders of their communities. In Haiti, this is known as Seminary and pastors gladly walk up to eight hours each day to participate in this free conference.
Please
pray for this important part of Haitian ministry. |
